Wilbur Cross stuns Branford

Samantha Sanchez had two hits to lead the host Wilbur Cross softball team to a 7-5 victory over Branford in a SCC Oronoque Division win at New Haven.

Shanilya Bush had two hits and two RBIs for Wilbur Cross (3-7), which trailed 5-0 after the first inning. Branford is 7-7.

In other softball games:

Hopkins 18, Hamden Hall 0 (5): Tara Gambardella pitched a no-hitter, walked one and struck out 15 to lead the host Hilltoppers to a prep school win at New Haven.
Lexi Parr had a three-run triple for Hopkins (10-2).

Bunnell 5, New Fairfield 1: Rachel Babineau pitched a three-hitter and struck out 12 to lead the host Bulldogs to a South-West Conference victory at Stratford.
Kate Cataldo had a triple and three RBIs and Tara Gleason had two hits and an RBI for Bunnell (11-3).
