Cheshire hands Mercy its first loss
Anna Marcucilli’s single scored Allison Fountain from second base for the game-winning run in the sixth inning as the Cheshire softball team edged Mercy, 2-1, on Friday in Middletown. Both teams are ranked in the Register Top 10 Poll.
No. 5 Mercy (10-1) suffered its first loss.
Fountain went 3-for-4 at the plate, and Linda Amarante scattered three hits to pick up the win for the No. 8 Rams (8-2).
East Haven 4, Foran 3: Alex Wynne had three hits and an RBI to lead the visiting Easties to a SCC interdivision win at Milford.
Ashley Borchert had three hits and scored twice for East Haven (5-6).
Foran falls to 6-5.
