Law wins battle of Milford

Christine Akcer tossed a three-hitter and struck out 10 as the Law softball team defeated crosstown rival Foran 4-0.

Akcer also had a run-scoring single. Read the game story in Thursday's Register.

In other softball action:

Lyman Hall 3, Cheshire 2: Lauren Zambrano struck out 13 as the Trojans knocked off Cheshire, the No. 8 team in the Register Top 10 poll, in SCC Housatonic Division play.

Kim Silva went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Cheshire (9-3). Lyman Hall improves to 10-3.

Bunnell 1, Pomperaug 0 (9): Stephanie Sage scored on a passed ball to lift the Bulldogs to an extra-inning win over the Panthers in South-West Conference play at Southbury.

Rachel Babineau struck out 13 and went 2-for-4 with a double for the Bulldogs (10-3). Pomperaug falls to 11-3.
