Lawrence Tosses No-hitter

Behind 10 strikeouts, Tom Lawrence threw a no-hitter as West Haven blanked Xavier 9-0. Tony D’Addio went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Westies. The Falcons are three-time defending SCC Quinnipiac Division champions. That will likely change this season. West Haven and Notre Dame-West Haven look like the powerhouses of that division this season. They square off Monday at 3:45 at Quigley Stadium.
Ray Buckley had three hits and drove in a run as the Fairfield Prep edged Foran 3-2. The Jesuits (2-2) have already matched their win total from last season.
Steve Landell threw a two-hitter and struck out 10 in Haddam-Killingworth’s 5-0 win over Cromwell.
Chris Renzoni also pitched a two-hitter for Seymour in the Wildcats 6-0 win over Watertown. Renzoni struck out 11 and added two hits of his own.
A day after rallying to knock off Xavier, Branford fell 5-2 to Career. Mike Cartagena had three hits and three RBIs. Mike Rubino went 4-4 for the Panthers.
After dropping its season opener, East Haven beat Wilbur Cross 12-4 for its fourth straight win. John Palmieri and Vin Guglietti each had two hits for the Easties.
Lou Concato struck out six and Joe Ciancola picked up the save as Amity edged Cheshire to remain unbeaten. Mark Esposito drove in a run for Amity.
