LACROSSE: SHOWCASE EVENT FOR SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR AND SENIOR BOYS AND GIRLS
Corrigan Sports, a company that does sports promotions in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. region, announced today the dates and locations of tryouts for the 2009 Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic Underclassman event. The event, which offers a unique showcase for lacrosse players, will take place June 27-28 at Johnny Unitas Stadium at Towson University in Towson, Md.
In New England, the boys tryouts will be held at Avon Old Farms on June 13 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and on June 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. The girls tryouts will be held at Westwood High in Westwood, Mass. on May 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and June 6 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The event will feature teams from Baltimore, Long Island, Midwest, New England, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Upstate New York, and Washington D.C. Over the two days, the teams will compete in an eight-team pool play tournament. Baltimore, New England, Philadelphia, and Upstate New York will compete in Pool A, while Long Island, Midwest, New Jersey, and Washington D.C. are in Pool B. The weekend is capped off on June 28 at 3:30 p.m. where the winner of each pool will face off for the Under Armour Underclassmen Championship.
All boys and girls entering grades 10, 11 or 12 are eligible to tryout and receive the opportunity to be one of the 24 players selected by a panel of coaching experts to represent their region at the Classic in June. All participants will receive an Under Armour event shirt, a subscription to
Inside Lacrosse magazine and a ticket to the All-America games on June 27 as well as an in-depth biography page in the college coaches’ recruiting booklet.
The Under Armour Underclassman tournament is part of the Under Armour All-American Games that feature 44 of the very best senior class boys and girls from around the country squaring off against each other in a North vs. South format.
Inside Lacrosse will select the players for the Under Armour All-America Senior Games.
All participants are required to show up on the first day to be included in the tryouts. Arrive one hour early to check-in. Players can register at www.underarmourlacrosse.com.
