Seymour boys and girls both edge Watertown
Kim Bogen struck out 18 batters for the Seymour softball team in a 2-1 NVL win over host Watertown.
Steph Burt had an RBI double and Meryl Ragaini had a run-scoring single for No. 3 Seymour (15-0).
The Seymour baseball team also beat Watertown 2-1. John Murphy pitched four innings of no-hit relief, and Chris Renzoni’s solo homer in the fifth inning snapped a tie game.
Dan Perez had a single and double and Renzoni gave up one hit in three innings before giving way to Murphy for Seymour (15-0).
Bob Delaney had a third-inning single for Watertown (5-9).
SOFTBALL
Masuk 3, Bunnell 0: Rachel Fico struck out 12 batters in a three-hit shutout and helped her own cause by going 3-for-4 at the plate in Masuk’s win at Stratford.
Sam Barbessi had two hits for Masuk, which improved to 14-0. Lissy Houlton went 2-for-3 with a double for Bunnell (11-4).
Cheshire 6, Sheehan 0: Linda Amarante allowed one hit and stuck out a career-high 14 batters for the Rams in this SCC Housatonic Division win at Wallingford.
Katie Lamb singled in the bottom of the seventh inning for Sheehan (6-8).
