Notre Dame-West Haven Knocks Off Amity

A day ago, Tom Lawrence shut down Notre Dame-West Haven, holding the Green Knights to just three hits. Notre Dame, the No. 4 team in the Register Top 10 baseball poll, responded with an 8-4 win over top-ranked Amity.
Dave Beisler sparked the win with a three-run homer in the first inning. He finished with two hits and four RBIs. Dan Mercado also homered for Notre Dame. It was Amity’s first loss of the season.
Other highlights from tonight...
Morgan remained undefeated with a 5-2 win over Valley Regional, as did Seymour with a 14-0 victory over Crosby. Russ Caprio went 3-for-3 with two RBIs as North Haven edged Guilford 6-5. Hamden’s Pete Branski walked five batters in fifth inning, leading to all three runs in Sheehan’s 3-2 win over the Green Dragons.
