Roberts Named Gatorade Player of the Year
New Britain senior Symone Roberts earned Gatorade Connecticut Girls Basketball Player of the Year honors.
The 5-foot-7 point guard who will play at Providence next season, led the Hurricanes to a 19-6 record, while averaging 27.1 points, 5.5 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.3 steals per game. Roberts led New Britain to state titles in 2006 and 2007. New Britain fell to Mercy in the second round of the Class LL state tournament this season. She is the sixth-leading scorer in state history.
