Manic Monday

The winter high school season enters its final week with plenty of games to go watch tonight featuring Greater New Haven Area teams:

in girls' basketball, Hillhouse continues its run to the Mohegan Sun with a semifinal-round match against Avon tonight at Xavier High in Middletown at 7.

In hockey, the Division II semifinals commence at Ingalls Rink in New Haven. There are three Southern Connecticut Conference teams still left, with Cheshire facing Lyman Hall in the early game at 5:30. At 7:30, defending champion Amity takes on Enfield. This final is Friday night at Ingalls at 7:30.

In boys' basketball, SCC foes Lyman Hall and Hand clash in the Class L quarterfinals at 7:30 (not 7) at Branford. Lyman Hall was an L finalist last season, but Hand will be a formidable opponent.
On that same side of the bracket, Jordan Williams-led Torrington battles Stratford, last year's Class M champ, in the quarters at Plainville at 7.

There is an intriguing matchup in Class S as Hyde faces Capital Prep at Maloney at 7:45 p.m. Capital Prep features 6-10 sophomore Andre Drummond, who is already getting looks from Division I schools, including UConn.

Although there are no area schools in the game, Trinity Catholic faces Bulkeley at Wilbur Cross at 7 in a Class L boys' quarterfinal.

On Tuesday, the New Haven Athletic Center will play host the Class LL boys' hoop semi between Crosby, which eliminated Hillhouse, and Stamford at 7.

Also on Tuesday are all four class swim meets. The Class L (3 p.m.) and LL (7) will be held at Yale.
