SCC wrestling meet cancelled

The Southern Connecticut Conference cancelled its wrestling championship meet on Sunday.
The blizzard forced the tournament to be moved twice - to Sunday and then Wednesday - but with the CIAC state class meets to begin on Friday, the SCC, along with the South-West Conference and the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference, felt it was best to cancel their meets for 2013.
"With the State of Connecticut still in a 'state of emergency,' and many of our league schools not in session on Monday and possibly Tuesday, as well as the coaches’ concern that the SCC meet would be too close to the state tournaments, we decided to cancel," SCC commissioner Al Carbone said. "We just didn’t want to take any more chances."
This is the first time the SCC wrestling tournament has been cancelled. The SCC gymnastics is on as scheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Law.
The Class S indoor state indoor track and field championship meet has been postponed for a second time. The meet moved from Saturday morning, to Monday afternoon, and now to Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
The Class L and LL meets are still scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, at 4 p.m. at the athletic center.
