SCC GYMNASTICS MEET POSTPONED: SCC gymnastics meet rescheduled for Monday

The approaching blizzard of the Century now named Nemo is being monitored closely by high school officials throughout the state including Law gymnastics coach Pat Simon whose school WAS scheduled to host the Southern Connecticut Conference gymnastics meet on Friday at 5 p.m.
Simon has confirmed the meet has been postponed and rescheduled for Monday at Law at 6 p.m.
The impending storm also brought back memories of the Blizzard of 1978 that dumped several feet of snow throughout New England.
"The biggest storm was on this day in 1978," Simon said. "I was teaching that day and when I got to school it was snowing heavy and there was already 4 inches on the ground. They decided to go with an early dismissal for 1 p.m. but shut down everything around 10:30 a.m.and sent everyone home.
"No one was allowed to drive on the roads for three days. We have better forecasting now and we are much more prepared. I actually started planning for an alternative date to host the SCC meet two days ago."
