CHESHIRE — Opening a new swim season with two straight wins is a challenge. Doing it when your team is displaced from your home pool doesn’t make it any easier. But the Cheshire girls overcame the obstacles.
The Rams’ home pool is the Cheshire Community Pool, which has the quirky feature of using a bubble to cover the open-air facility for fall and winter indoor use. It takes two weeks to install the bubble. The installation began Sept. 8 and the pool was supposed to re-open on Friday. But the rain storm on Tuesday slightly damaged the bubble and now the pool isn’t expected to open until this Wednesday or Thursday.
As a result, since Sept. 8 the Rams have been practicing in split sessions at Cheshire Academy with one group from 2:30-4:30 p.m. and a smaller group from 4:30-6. Also, because Cheshire Academy doesn’t have a diving board, the Rams’ divers have been practicing at Sheehan.
