Fourth-seeded Foran knocked off No. 8 Cheshire 5-4 to advance to its first Southern Connecticut Conference baseball championship game.
Zack Phelan went 3-for-3 with two runs to lead Foran, which will play Saturday at Yale Field at noon against the winner of the Law-Amity game scheduled to begin in 35 minutes.
Foran pitcher Joe Michaud struggled for the first three innings, but settled down and retired 12 straight batters to earn the win. Brad Runowicz went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run for Cheshire.
