Hand softball advances, Mercy falls
Laura Santry’s single drove in Kate Sartory to lift top-seeded Hand to a 3-2, 10-inning win over No. 8 North Haven in the SCC Tournament Quarterfinals.
Maggie Maguire and Katelyn Wall each had two hits for Hand (17-4).
North Haven (12-9) scored both runs on errors.
No. 2 Mercy lost to No. 7 Amity 1-0.
Cheshire 8, Derby 0: Linda Amarante struck out 12 and went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the No. 3 Rams over the No. 6 Red Raiders.
Lindsay Pandajis added two hits, including a triple, and two runs for Cheshire (16-5).
Christine Gelardi tripled for Derby (14-7).
Lyman Hall 1, Sheehan 0: Lauren Zambrano’s sacrifice fly scored Nicole Rosa to lift the No. 5 Trojans over the No. 4 Titans.
Zambrano also struck out 14, while Steph Jensen added two hits for the Trojans (16-5).
Sheehan fall to 12-9.
In the NVL, Seymour beat Watertown 15-0 and Woodland knocked off Naugatuck 6-1. The championship is Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Wolcott.
