Seymour High to hold Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

The Seymour High sports hall of fame committee will hold an induction ceremony on Nov. 2 at the Colonial Tavern.

The following will be inducted to the school’s hall of fame: Mark Allen (Class of 1970), Maria Conlon (2000),  Vic Cweklinsky (1962), Les Dahn (1957), Jen D’Amato (1996), Ed Esson (1981), coach Joe Gesek , coach Dan Heffernan, John “Chick” Henry (1954), Dennis Rozum (1970), Ed Shay (1968).

Tickets will be on sale at the Armands Service Center, Seymour Town Hall and Seymour High School, or from any of the committee members. Interested persons can leave a message at SHSSHOF@yahoo.com or by calling Paul Sponheimer at 203-734-0233 or Anthony LoPresti at 203-888-4461.

GIRLS' SWIMMING: Seymour to host "Swim for Hope"



The Seymour girls' swim team will be hosting its second annual "Swim for Hope" swim meet on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Seymour High pool on 2 Botsford Road in Seymour.
The Wildcats will face St. Joseph-Trumbull . Both teams will be wearing special swim caps and providing concessions to raise money for the Seymour Pink Organization.
"All are welcomed to cheer on their favorite team and support cancer research and girls swimming," Seymour swim coach Missy Orosz said in a prepared statement. "Our (Seymour) co-captain Katherine Acquavella has organized this event the past two seasons. Mrs. Mary Deming, the founder of Seymour Pink, is an alumna from St. Joseph-Trumbull. She is a teacher at Seymour and founded the whole Seymour Pink Organization on behalf of her mother."

Tripleheader at Harbor Yard postponed

Saturday's tripleheader scheduled for the Ballpark at Harbor yard in Bridgeport was postponed Friday due to possible inclement weather. Two have already been rescheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday: Shelton at Amity and Xavier at Foran. The Seymour-St. Joseph game is ppd. indefinitely.

Swim for Hope meet Tuesday

The Seymour girl’s swim team will host their first annual "Swim for Hope" meet with St. Joseph-Trumbull at 4 p.m. Tuesday. All proceeds will be donated to the Seymour Pink Foundation, which raises funds for breast cancer awareness. Both teams will be wearing special pink swim caps and tatoos. The Seymour swimmers will be also wearing swim shirts that state "Keep the Breast in the Stroke."
Anyone who attends is asked to donate any of the following items the night of the meet to help raise money: water bottles, small gatorade bottles, individual bags of chips, granola bars, snacks or candy.
