Hamden's Ugolik hoping for successful season

People told Rachel Ugolik she would know that feeling, the feeling most high school athletes know when they find the right college, the right place to continue their athletic career.

“And you are like, ‘What the heck is that feeling?’” Ugolik said. “Then you walk on the campus and you realize, ‘Oh, that’s the feeling and you get it. I didn’t get it at other schools.

The school was Providence, and Ugolik, a senior tri-captain at Hamden High, wasted no time in making a oral commitment last November after an unofficial visit. Almost a year later, the 17 year old hasn’t wavered. She won’t officially sign a national letter of intent until next February.

For now, Ugolik needs to focus her final season for the Green Dragons, a chance to improve upon the school record she already owns, 60 goals, and a chance to reclaim the Southern Connecticut Quinnipiac Division.
