SEYMOUR — After losing 6-foot-1 senior Christina Cretella to a season-ending ACL injury last season, Seymour coach Cathy Federowicz knew her juniors had to step up.

It was a little ahead of schedule but, the juniors accepted the challenge and led the team to the Class S semifinals before falling to Northwest Catholic. Cretella has since graduated and the seniors know it is their time now.

“I sat down with them at the beginning (of last season) and told them it’s going to come down to you guys and what you can put together,” said Federowicz, who won New Haven Register All-Area Coach of the Year last season.
