Defense a hallmark for Lauralton Hall field hockey program

MILFORD — Lauralton High field hockey coach Theresa Napolitano has a coaching style she has never wavered from and it has certainly produced positive results.

Napolitano, who has coached the sport 16 years overall, always builds her teams from the goalie out, stressing defense followed by improving the transition game and then working on a developing offense.

Napolitano instilled the philosophy in her first coaching stint as the Amity field hockey coach for 10 years starting in 1988. Eventually the Spartans won the CIAC Class M title in 1995.

When Napolitano started the Crusaders’ program in 2007 as a club team, defense once again was the starting point and the Crusaders have seen improvement each season.

Here's more on the Lauralton Hall program and season expectations.
