First Hillhouse-Wilbur Cross game before Christmas

The renewal of the city boys' basketball rivalry will take place before Christmas.

Hillhouse will play Wilbur Cross on Monday, Dcember 21, at 6 p.m. at the New Haven Athletic Center. Normally, the first game takes place in January, but has been moved up this year due to Southern Conencticut Conference scheduling.
This also happened a few years ago. Quite frankly, this game should NEVER be played in December. Both teams should have seven to eight games under its respective belts before playing one another. Hopefully, this can be switched, but likely will not.

Even more interesting is where the second game is scheduled to be played: at Wilbur Cross' home gym.

Since the athletic center has been built, this game has only been played in one of the school's gyms just once - the 2004 Division I state tournament first-round game, won by Cross 73-63.

The second game is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. Get there early.
