GIRLS SWIMMING-WILDCATS ARE ROCKIN'
While the Southern Connecticut Conference garners much of the press in the New Haven area when it comes to girls swimming with its depth of talent, at least one local NVL team has been on a roll of its own.
The Seymour girls swim team has improved to 6-0 with two more wins this past week. On Tuesday, Seymour faced a tough SCC North Haven squad who had about 30 swimmers and two divers compared to Seymour's twenty. Seymour won 91-87.
On Friday, Seymour had another great team victory against NVL rival Naugatuck. The meet saw a few girls swim in different events and drop their times. Highlight for the 86-79 win included seniors Rhiannan Urciouli (5:38.18), Kristen Ferencz (6:00.54) and Lorena Salas(6:46.69) capturing first, third and fourth places and in the 100 Butterfly Junior Lauren Almonte (1:05.22), Senior Sabrina Suarez (1:18.02) and freshman Michelle Wagmeister(1:37.35) claiming first, third and fifth places. In the 100 freestyle event sophomore Michelle Pleban (57.83), junior Maggie Crocamo (58.87) and junior Rachel Frick (1:09.61) placed first, second and fifth.
