Hand finishes second at State Open Wrestling

Hand placed second behind Bacon Academy at the State Open Saturday. Bacon prevailed by the score of 98-91.

Hand's Ed Carroll (130) and Joe Demichele (285) both won titles. Shelton's Pat Gillen won his second straight Open crown at 215.

Hand trails by 2 at State Open Wrestling

After Friday's portion of the State Open wrestling championship, Hand trails Bacon Academy by two points (47-45). Xavier is third with 34 points.

Championship semifinals will be contested at noon Saturday. Championship finals are expected to begin at 5:30 p.m. at the New Haven Athletic Center.

The event begins on Friday at 5 p.m. and continues Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the New Haven Athletic Center. Championship finals are expected to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
