MILFORD — As the outs continued to dwindle, the Jonathan Law softball team could see a special season slipping away. Trailing Suffield as the sixth inning began, senior Melissa Nelson was not ready for her season or high school career to end.
Nelson drove home the tying run in the sixth and capped the comeback by knocking in the winning run in the eighth as No. 5 Law defeated No. 12 Suffield 2-1 in eight innings in second-round action of the CIAC Class M state tournament Wednesday at Jonathan Law.
The Eagles will play at No. 4 Rocky Hill Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. in the Class M semifinals.
