MANCHESTER — With the possible exception of the pole vault, the triple jump has to be the most unique – and awkward – of all track events.

Think about it: you sprint down a runway, take off with your stronger leg, take a second step again with your strong leg and then finish by jumping off your weaker leg into a sand pit.

It takes a special kind of athlete to master the technique, and a pair of local athletes has done just that.
