Fifteen student-athletes from eight high schools have been named The SportsCenter of Connecticut/Southern Connecticut Conference Scholar Athletes of the Month for May – the final month of the 2010-11 academic year.
Now concluding its fifth year, 107 student-athletes were honored during 2010-11 school year.
May's representatives are: Angelika Stamos from Sacred Heart Academy (softball), Peter Clarke from Hand (cross country, indoor and outdoor track), Joya Helander of Hand (outdoor track), Connor Byrne of Fairfield Prep (lacrosse), Bill Firisin of Fairfield Prep (rugby), Sarah Vaughan of Hamden (cross country, indoor and outdoor track), Kevin Hochstrasser of Hamden (tennis), Dara Davis of Guilford (field hockey and lacrosse), Jesse Iassogna of Guilford (football and outdoor track), Fabio Dos Anjos of Wilbur Cross (soccer, indoor track and tennis). Claire Loxsom of Wilbur Cross (volleyball, indoor and outdoor track), Istvan Kanyo of North Haven (soccer, indoor track and tennis), Martina Benassi of North Haven (indoor and outdoor track), Lea Finch of Law (softball) and Ryan Falaguerra of Law (football and outdoor track).
