Former Masuk High standout Rachele Fico, an Oxford resident, was one of 50 players named to the watch list for the USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year by the Amateur Softball Association.

Fico, a sophomore pitcher at Louisiana State, was 20-7 with a 1.15 ERA and 161 strikeouts in 158.2 innings.

Bristol’s Sara Plourde, a junior pitcher at UMass, was also among the 50 candidates which will be cut to 25 finalists by mid April.
