SCC basketball lands three division winners

Three divisions were wrapped up in the Southern Connecticut Conference last night:
Hillhouse won the Hammonasset by winning at Hand.
Sheehan won the Housatonic by beating Cheshire for the second time in three days.
Xavier still has a perfect division record in the Quinnipiac after dispatching West Haven at home.

Thus far, nine teams have qualified for the league tournament beginning Feb. 26. In addition to the three division winners, Lyman Hall, Hand, Notre Dame-West Haven, Career, Wilbur Cross and North Haven will all be in the field. West Haven and East Haven are just one victory away from qualifying while Cheshire is two. Only Amity is eliminated from possibly qualifying right now.

As far as undefeated teams go, the state lost three more last night when there were two games featuring unbeaten teams: Trinity Catholic won at Stamford and Cromwell held serve at home vs. Hyde. In another game, Crosby toppled Sacred Heart.

So that leaves: Trinity, Cromwell, Hillhouse, Stratford, Canton and Terryville.
