WOODBRIDGE — On Wednesday, the Amity softball team suffered its second straight loss. Prior to the two-game slide, the Spartans had won nine straight, earning it the New Haven Register Team of the Week award.

The ups and downs of a 20-game season are to be expected. However, the seniors at Amity make sure they keep everyone’s spirits high, even their coach.

“They keep me young and they make me old at the same time,” said coach Bobby Purcell jokingly. “
