Seymour, Canton wins softball state titles
Seymour, the top seed in Class M, defeated St. Joseph 1-0 to win that particular state championship Saturday afternoon at DeLuca Field in Stratford.
In the first game of the day, No. 10 seed Canton scored twice in the top of the seventh inning on a suicide squeeze to dethrone defending champion Coginchaug 4-2 in Class S. Coginchaug made an error on the play to help Canton win its first state title since 1991.
