HOCKEY: STAPLES-WESTON LEADS 1-0 AFTER FIRST IN D-III
St. Joseph dominated early on in the first period of the Division III final, outshooting Staples-Weston 7-3. But the Cadets came away with no goals thanks to some impressive saves by goalie Luke Andriuk.
As the period wore on, Staples-Weston picked up the pace and by the time the period was over the Wreckers outshot the Cadets 14-13 and led 1-0.
Wreckers' forward Jason Shapiro scored off a 2-on-2 breakaway down the left wing for the goal with 2:35 left in the first period.
