HOCKEY: HAMDEN TAKES 2-0 LEAD AFTER TWO PERIODS

Most of the second period was dominated by Glastonbury and at one point the Tomahawks outshot the Green Dragons 14-1 in the period. But the last four minutes belonged to Hamden, outshooting Glastonbury 5-1 and coming away with a 2-0 lead.
The Tomahawks wasted two power-play opportunities and four wide open shots that were rejected by Avitable.
It was almost as if Glastonbury ran out of gas the way Hamden dominated late in the period.
P.J. Vakos scored Hamden's first goal off a faceoff inside the right circle. He took a pass from C.J. Carignan and lifted the puck into the upper left corner for the 1-0 lead with 1:08 left in the period. And 37 seconds later Scott Walsh padded the lead at 2-0 on a shot from the left post.
