CYCLING: Local coaches gear up for three-day trek from Boston to New York for Lou Gehrig's Disease fundraiser

By Vinnie Salzo
Elm City Sports Editor

This weekend will represent the culmination of months of hard work — both physically and emotionally — for local high school coaches Dave Festa, Brian DePodesta, and Nate Hill.

The three Hamden natives will participate in the ninth annual Tri-State Trek, which raises money and awareness for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), the neurodegenerative disease that affects more than 5,000 Americans each year.
