Girls' hockey: CCGHL playoff matchups delayed due to makeups

Due to five league makeup games this week from matchups that were postponed the past month due to winter storms, the Central Connecticut Girls Hockey League playoff matchups for this weekend's first round are yet to be decided.
Also, the Amity/North Haven girls coop team originally omitted from the playoffs has been added to the competition.
“With the winter weather forcing make-up games into this week, as well as the North Haven team being added to the playoffs, we are scrambling to put the playoffs together in an equitable way,” Hamden girls hockey coach and CCGHLcommissioner Val Chamberlain said. “This year we have 10 teams which we put in two balanced divisions. We have the Blue Division with Hamden, Guilford, ND-Fairfield Co-op, Branford and the North Haven/Amity/Cheshire/North Branford coop and the Red Division with Simsbury, Hall/Conard coop, Hand, West Haven and Lauralton Hall.”
Chamberlain said the original plan was for league games to be completed by Feb. 12. The playoffs are scheduled to begin Saturday (Feb. 19) with a yet-to-be-determined No. 4 seed vs. No. 5 seed in each division. The winners of those games would play at their respective No. 1 seeds on Monday (Feb 21). The No. 2 seeds once determined would also host the No. 3 seeds on Monday. From there the divisional finals will be held at Yale’s Ingalls Rink on Feb. 24 at 6:45 pm and 8:45 pm. The two divisional winners play for the league championship on Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at Yale.
The playoff matchups will be available later this week as makeup games are completed according to Chamberlain.
