The Naugatuck Valley League Girls Swimming Championships will be held Saturday (Nov. 7) at 5 p.m. at Kennedy High and Seymour has several girls in top heats.
Swimmers to watch are senior Rhiannon Urciouli in the 200 and 500 freestyles, juniors Maggie Crocamo and Lauren Almonte in the 100 butterfly and Michelle Pleban in the 100 freestyle.
All three of Seymour's relays are seeded No. 1 - the 200 medley relay (Maggie Crocamo, Lauren Almonte, Amber Bjerke and Michelle Pleban), 200 freestyle relay (Maggie Crocamo, Amber Bjerke, Rhiannon Urciuoli and Anna Pleaban) and 400 freestyle relay (Lauren Almonte, Rhiannon Urciouli, Anna Pleban and Michelle Pleban).
Seymour coach Missy Orosz hopes to finish in the top three in the team standings.
