Sheehan edges Branford in boys' hoops
John Papale scored six of his 21 points in overtime as Sheehan defeated Branford 78-74 in two overtimes Tuesday in a Southern Connecticut Conference interdivision boys’ basketball game at Branford.
Sheehan’s Phil Gaetano forced the second overtime by making a 3-pointer with 4.5 seconds left. Casey Dadio (18 points) forced overtime for Branford (2-8) by making two free throws with 16 seconds left in regulation.
James Goglia had a career-high 37 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and five blocks for Branford. Brett Biestek had 19 points for the Titans (7-2).
